No Comment: Williams College STFU on No Whites Allowed Tech Symposium

Our good friends at The College Fix have been following up on the most recent example of anti-white bias at Williams College in MA. As you may know, the college has scheduled a science and technology symposium that focused on “new” voices in the field, while completely excluding white scholars. Amazingly, the call for papers specifies that it wants papers from members of underrepresented groups which it defines as either “African Americans, Alaska Natives, Arab Americans, Asian Americans, Latinx, Native Americans, Native Hawaiians, and other Pacific Islanders.”

Williams Liberty has complained about this discrimination against whites elsewhere. Even Ephblog got into the fight wryly asking how it is that Arab Americans are now considered among the underrepresented?

According to The College Fix, the people responsible for this event are ducking questions from the press. The College Fix notes that Williams College Associate Professor of Political Science and Chair of Science and Technology Studies Laura Ephraim is the point of contact for the no whites need apply event. They say that for "...the last three weeks she has ignored repeated phone calls and emails from The College Fix seeking comment on the event."

Likewise, the media affairs office and several faculty members in the Science and Technology Studies program have also ignored "...repeated requests for comment."

Last year, Williams College was the scene of a highly publicized, vicious, bigoted tirade against young white men on campus. I think the college's failure to address reasonable questions about the fairness of excluding white (and I assume Jewish) presenters at a tech conference is evidence of how the school's culture of open antagonism against whites is alive and well this fall. The text of the call for papers is available below the break.

Williams College Poo Professor: Everyone Poops But Only a Few Obsess About It

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - Political theory professor Laura Ephraim is continuing her quest to educate us on how Locke's inattention to excrement is a serious flaw in his theory of property.

Her premise seems to be that everything in the world is best understood by 1) linking it to stool, or 2)  using stool (or bowel movements) as a metaphor, simile or analogy.

I'm not joking. Read her cringe-worthy abstract here.

Locke, she complains, presents an idealized view of the abundance of God's natural world because Locke leaves out how everything in nature is actually the result of human or non-human feces. She believes she adds value by rethinking Locke through the perspective of peristalsis. As you may know, peristalsis is the involuntary constriction and relaxation of the muscles of the intestine which push the contents of the intestine out.

She ominously links Locke's inattention to stool to the way he labeled people without property as "noxious" beasts. Drawing on my own history as a Marxist, I think what she means is that Locke's inattention to the ownership of one's excrement makes it easier for Locke to dehumanize the human casualties of our economic system. It is ironic, in her view, that Locke paid so little attention to poo and yet nevertheless describes the victims of capitalism as being like poo. In her The Politics of Waste course, for example, Ephraim explores the how we deal with unwanted noxious people through a special course offered at the Berkshire County Jail which is composed of nine Williams students and nine inmates.

Given her poo tinted glasses, you will probably not be surprised to learn that Ephraim is concerned that neither political scientists or political philosophers have displayed insufficient interest in waste. I think she is on to something. As far as I can tell, discussions of excrement are also absent from the works of Thomas Jefferson, Plato, Aristotle, Socrates and even Immanuel Kant. In her upcoming fall course, The Politics of Waste, she informs students that "...we will openly discuss unmentionable topics and get our hands dirty (sometimes literally) examining the politics of waste."

If we take away the high dungeon histrionics and I think Ephraim is basically advocating that we set aside our routine social manners and substitute the word poo for the more widely used phrase "negative externalities." I think those of us with normal levels of emotional IQ will quickly see it is best to base their vocabularies on economics rather than coprology or - even worse - coprophilia.

No Whites Allowed: Williams College Promotes Discriminatory Conference on Technology

As one of the white scholars harmed by affirmative action in the 1980s it really ticks me off to see Williams College promoting anti-white discrimination three decades later. The real institutional discrimination in our society is directed at young whites...not minorities. Here's an example of what I consider pure evil. If the link breaks down...here's a screenshot.

In this example, Williams College is hosting a symposium on "New Voices in Science & Technology Studies" which specifically discriminates against whites. This is the sort of symposium which looks good on someone's CV. The school will be providing a $500.00 honorarium and providing room and board for all the presenters.

As a matter of equity, there really should be a whites only symposium focused on institutionalized discrimination against young white men in technology. For example, what about a paper on the mistreatment of whites at Google?

If you have questions about why whites are facing racial discrimination, then you really ought to send an e-mail to the following address: laura.ephraim@williamscollege.
